Daughter Was Dad's Sex Slave For 24 Years, Bore 7 Children

Pin It now!
Amstetten, Austria (CNN) - People in Amstetten, Austria are horrified by what has been going on under their noses for more than two decades.

A 42-year-old woman claims that she was held captive by her own father for 24 years, raped many times and bore him at least seven children. The victim says her now 73-year-old father (identified as Josef F.) kept her chained in the basement since she was 18.

She claims there are rooms underneath their house, cellar rooms in which she was forced to stay with her three children, never seeing daylight, and only getting food and clothing when the father wanted to.

Three of the children were taken away by the man who legally adopted them. They played on the lawn as their mother and three siblings were held captive under the house.

All of this came to light because one of the children, now 19-years-old, had to be taken to the hospital because she was in very grave condition. Doctors started asking questions about whom the mother of this person is and that̢۪s how they found the 73-year-old man and the captives in the cellar rooms underneath the house.

The authorities say the man has led them to the cellar rooms and he has opened the cellar rooms which can only be opened by an electronic lock. The cellar rooms are very small, very dark and very damp.

The man is in custody and this is still an ongoing investigation.

Vatican Releases List of Modern Day Evils

Pin It now!

Those newly risking eternal punishment include drug pushers, the obscenely wealthy, and scientists who manipulate human genes. So "thou shalt not carry out morally dubious scientific experiments" or "thou shalt not pollute the earth" might one day be added to the Ten Commandments.

Modern Evils:

  • Environmental pollution
  • Genetic manipulation
  • Accumulating excessive wealth
  • Inflicting poverty
  • Drug trafficking and consumption
  • Morally debatable experiments
  • Violation of fundamental rights of human nature

The Catechism of the Catholic Church states that "immediately after death the souls of those who die in a state of mortal sin descend into Hell".

The new mortal sins were listed by Archbishop Gianfranco Girotti at the end of a week-long training seminar in Rome for priests, aimed at encouraging a revival of the practice of confession - or the Sacrament of Penance in Church jargon.

According to a survey carried out here 10 years ago by the Catholic University, 60% of Italians have stopped going to confession altogether. The situation has certainly not improved during the past decade.

Catholics are supposed to confess their sins to a priest at least once a year. The priest absolves them in God's name.

Talking to course members at the end of the seminar organised by the Apostolic Penitentiary, the Vatican department in charge of fixing the punishments and indulgences handed down to sinners, Pope Benedict added his own personal voice of disquiet.

"We are losing the notion of sin," he said. "If people do not confess regularly, they risk slowing their spiritual rhythm," he added. The Pope confesses his sins regularly once a week.

Spammers crack Gmail Captcha codes

Pin It now!
Experts are worried about the security protection on Gmail after a recent rise in spam volumes.

Researchers at Message Labs found that spam messages originating from Google's webmail service doubled last month to reach roughly 2.6 per cent of all webmail spam.

MessageLabs believes that this points to a possible breach of Gmail's spam protections, in particular the 'Captcha' system.

Captcha codes are the input boxes in which a user copies a sequence of letters or numbers from an image. The system is designed to prevent spammers registering multiple accounts automatically.

"There are several approaches a spammer can take to defeat a Captcha," said Mark Sunner, chief security analyst at MessageLabs.

"Whether they do so using an algorithm, a 'mechanical Turk' or combination of the two, email providers are feeling the pressure to keep pace but are limited to what a human can realistically solve.

"This is creating ever more doubt about the long-term effectiveness of Captcha as a security mechanism for email services."

A Google spokesperson declined to comment on the MessageLabs report, but did tell vnunet.com that the company has taken action against the spammers.

"Fighting spam is a never-ending battle," said the spokesperson. "We disabled these accounts immediately and will continue to do so if they spread."

MessageLabs acknowledged that Gmail is a relatively minor source of spam. While the February boost brought Gmail's total to 2.6 per cent of webmail spam, Yahoo Mail accounts for a whopping 88.7 per cent.

University Bans Vista SP1 Upgrades as Problems Continue

Pin It now!
Microsoft Windows Vista Service Pack 1 is hitting more bumps in the road and institutions are beginning to weigh in. As one example, the University of Pennsylvania's IT department has reportedly issued a bulletin to faculty and students not to update with SP1, at least for the time being. The department has said it will support users who have Vista with SP1 preinstalled, however.

Major Driver Problems

Drivers are becoming a major issue. One of the reasons Microsoft delayed SP1's release was because of problems with drivers. New reports indicate that, while the actual number of problematic drivers may be small, as Microsoft indicates, their impact is not.

The drivers include those in a common Intel chipset, the 945G Express series, used in PCs from Gateway, Lenovo, Hewlett Packard and others. Microsoft has recommended that all drivers be updated before installing SP1.

One central location for SP1 complaints, as well as some favorable comments, is Microsoft's Vista blog.

A commenter called rikki-UK sarcastically described Microsoft as "GENIUS at work" because it released the update two days before a long holiday weekend, thus limiting access to support. According to rikki-UK, the company issued advice to some users to replace an Ethernet card or a router, even though the same hardware worked fine on XP machines.

One user going by the name of bowlman posted Friday that he has had SP1 installed for two days and the "only problems" are that e-mail opens slower, Vista wants to do an error report when it closes, and the documents folder "wants to lock up and takes 10 minutes to close it down."

Exorcist Needed?

"Sometimes," posted a user called Microsoft News Tracker, "I think what Microsoft's Vista operating system really needs is an exorcist" because of the number of "unnatural occurrences plaguing it."

Laura DiDio, an analyst with industry research firm Yankee Group, noted that SP1 has only been out for a few days, and it will take a few weeks to gauge overall reaction accurately. She had problems with drivers being unavailable for an existing printer when she upgraded to Vista, but she noted that, "to be fair," those who are happy with SP1 probably aren't going to post their happiness on blogs. She pointed out that it's the unhappy ones, looking for help or commiseration, who show up on blogs.

DiDio also recalled the conventional wisdom that "you only get one chance to make a first impression," adding that, if complaints continue much longer, Microsoft has to move quickly to put out a statement addressing the issues.

Pregnant US man hails 'miracle'

Pin It now!

A US man who is six months pregnant, 10 years after undergoing sex change surgery, says he considers his unborn child a "miracle".

Thomas Beatie, 34, said it was his right to have a child. The medical procedures he underwent a decade ago did not affect his reproductive system.

His wife says she inseminated him using sperm from an anonymous donor. Their doctor says it is a normal pregnancy.

Mr Beatie told chat show host Oprah Winfrey he had always wanted a child.

"It's not a male or female desire to have a child," he said. "It's a human desire. I have a very stable male identity."

'Daddy's little princess'

Mr Beatie, of Bend, Oregon, had breast surgery to remove glands and flatten his chest 10 years ago.

"I opted not to do anything with my reproductive organs because I wanted to have a child one day," a thinly bearded Mr Beatie told Oprah Winfrey.

"I didn't know how. It was just a dream."

He has been married for five years to wife Nancy, who also appeared on the show along with her two grown-up daughters from a previous marriage, Amber and Jen. They spoke of their admiration for their mother and Mr Beatie.

Mrs Beatie said the couple's roles would not change once the baby was born.

"He's going to be the father and I'm going to be the mother," she said.

They revealed Mr Beatie - a former Hawaiian beauty queen - had conceived by artificial insemination, carried out with a syringe by his wife in their home, with sperm purchased from a bank.

In their first TV interview, for The Oprah Winfrey Show and People magazine, the couple were shown at home in the room that will be the baby's nursery.

Viewers across the US on Thursday saw footage of Mr Beatie's ultrasound scan and heard a heartbeat.

He said: "I can't believe it. I can't believe she's inside me. We see her as our little miracle."

The baby would be "daddy's little princess", said Mr Beatie, who described himself as a tomboy growing up.

The couple say they had been refused medical assistance by eight different doctors, before finding one who was prepared to help with the pregnancy.

Mr Beatie's obstetrician, Dr Kimberly James, told Oprah Winfrey: "This baby is totally healthy. This is what I consider a normal pregnancy."

Smallest Girl In The World

Pin It now!

The sweet smile sometimes come in small packages!

She is about the size of a cat. With a height of just 1ft 11 in (58 cm), Jyoti Amge is dwarfed even by an one year old toddler (which may be over 75 cm (2.5 ft) tall and weigh over 10 kg (22 pounds), on average), but this girl is 15 years old. She has a form of dwarfism called achondroplasia and won’t grow any taller than her current height. Jyoti is now fully grown and weighs only 11 lb (5 kg), but she seems to be happy with her size, because of the fame it brought her.

Despite this, she goes to a regular school in Nagpur, central India, where she has her own small desk and chair, and her classmates treat her like any other student. Jyoti is treated like a mini-celebrity in her home town, where people flock to meet her and some even treat her like a goddess. She is ambitious and hopes to work as a Hollywood actress one day.

"I am proud of being small. I love the attention I get. I'm just the same as other people. I eat like you, dream like you. I don't feel any different," she told Sunday Mirror.

"I would love to work in a big city like Mumbai, act in films and travel to London and America," said Jyoti.

Her plans have been partially achieved: she has just recorded an album with her favorite Indian bhangra/rap star, Mika Singh.

Her mum, Ranjana Amge, 45, said: ‘When Jyoti was born, she seemed quite normal. We came to know about her disorder when she was five.‘

The hole has been burning ever since."

Life is a marriage-go-round

Pin It now!

If I can add to the list of enduring things in this world which already have taxes and death as the first entries, then marriage would be it. Little do we realize but marriage is a contributory factor to a civilized world. With marriage comes families, with families, come communities, etc. etc.

Marriage as an institution continues to suffer from attacks from all sides: same-sex marriage, non-committal lifestyle, and alternative living but that would be too serious a topic to tackle head-on. I've come across this list in one of my forays on the Web. It would be a waste not to share them.

1.Marriage is not a word. It is a sentence (a life sentence).

2. Marriage is very much like a violin; after the sweet music is over, the strings are still attached.

3. Marriage is love. Love is blind. Therefore marriage is an institution for the blind.

4. Marriage is an institution in which a man loses his Bachelor's Degree and the woman gets her Master's.

5. Marriage is a thing which puts a ring on a woman's finger, and two under the man's eyes.

6. Marriage certificate is just another word for a work permit.

7. Marriage is not just a having a wife but also worries inherited forever.

8. Marriage requires a man to prepare 4 types of RINGS:
* The Engagement Ring
* The Wedding Ring
* The Suffe-ring
* The Endu-ring

9. Married life is full of excitement and frustration:
In the first year of marriage, the man speaks and the woman listens. In the second year, the woman speaks and the man listens. In the third year, they both speak and the NEIGHBORS listen.

10. It is true that love is blind but marriage is definitely an eye-opener.

11. Getting married is very much like going to the restaurant with friends. You order what you want, and when you see what the other fellow has, you wish you had ordered that instead.

12. It's true that all men are born free and equal - but some of them get MARRIED!

13. There was this man who muttered a few words in the church and found himself married. A year later he muttered something in his sleep and found himself divorced.

14. A happy marriage is a matter of giving and taking; the husband gives and the wife takes.

15. Son: How much does it cost to get married, Dad?
Father: I don't know son, I'm still paying for it.
Son: Is it true Dad? I heard that in ancient China , a man doesn't know his wife until he marries.
Father: That happens everywhere, son, EVERYWHERE!

16. There was a man who said, I never knew what happiness was until I got married ... and then it was too late!

17. Love is one long sweet dream, and marriage is the alarm clock.

18. They say that when a man holds a woman's hand before marriage, it is love; after marriage it is self-defense.

19. When a newly married man looks happy, we know why. But when a ten-year married man looks happy, we wonder why.

20. There was this lover who said that he would go through hell for her. They got married, and now he is going through HELL.

Pinoy teen singer Charice wows UK audience

For the first time in its four-year history, the audience at The Paul O'Grady Show gave a standing ovation to a visiting singer: 14-year old Charice Pempengco from the Philippines.

According to the show's producers, not even the veteran chanteuse Mariah Carey was given this rare honour when she came to the UK recently to launch her new album.

"Sobrang saya ko po kasi sinabi nila na 4 years na pala yung show nila pero yun nga po, first time po nila magkaroon ng standing ovation, yun po dahil sa pagkanta ko po so very proud po ako sa sarili ko," Charice told ABS-CBN Europe News Bureau.

Pempengco was in the United Kingdom for two days at the invitation of TV talk show host Paul O'Grady, following her success last year on the Ellen de Generes' show in the United States and her huge fanbase on YouTube.

Paul O'Grady is a daily one-hour show broadcast every afternoon in the United Kingdom to showcase world-class talents and world breakers. It is one of the most popular shows in the UK.

Pempengco was accompanied by her mother, Raquel Pempengco. They were met here by US-based friends Atty. Michael and Millie Gurfinkel, who acted as mediators for the young artist and the show.

Confessions of a Bitch from Hell

Pin It now!

“It was just a simple revenge. It is no big deal. I am just planning to give him the taste of his own bitter medicine and besides, he had it all coming to himself. “

Those were the lines that kept bouncing on my head when I devised a not-so-diabolical-plan-of-mine against my 2-year boyfriend 5 months ago. He’s benevolent, sweet, sharp and romantic—everything a girl can ask for. I know I must have been stupid to plan all of these against him. Actually, I just want him to know how it hurts me a great deal when he dated his ex-girl friend and phone me afterwards to tell all the details of their date. Am I acting like a jealous wife or something but it really hurts me. Those were the days when I felt there is something wrong with me or maybe I did something to deserve his evil treatment.

He said it was just a friendly date but who cares, it was still a date! And for my not-so-diabolical-plan that I devised to give him a blow on his face, or to let him savor the taste of his own wrongdoings—find a guy, date him, enjoy the time, let my boyfriend enjoy the agony of not knowing where his girlfriend is when they have to meet at that time, phone him a couple of hours after triggering a manhunt and alas, drop the bomb—say every detail of the planned date. After that, enjoy the victory and feel how revenge is sweet!

That was all well planned out. My planned was nothing but perfect and it is sure to hit my target. Everything will all be normal after the plan if I not met this guy. He was the guy I am planning to use. Yes, I know—call me evil or bitch but you cannot blame me. To every bitch, there is always a man behind it that made her that way. So back with my plan, I dated my regular chatmate. I have never seen him before our actual meeting and I do not know what he looks like—not even a single idea. Why I chose to use him? Do not ask me because I really do not know the answer to that! All I know is that he is a fun chatter, faithful to his friends and a very interesting but reserve person. At first, I was hesitant to use him for the reason that he is really a sincere guy and we have been chatmates for quite sometime. Every hour of chat with him is like having daddy-long-legs to share all your secrets with, confide all your problems to, and best of all, just have a friend.

However, being a bitch myself, I went with the plan. We agreed to meet at the mall. He is uncertain at first and tried to text me million reasons to go away with the date but after a long bidding and convincing, he still managed to come and meet me. He is a cute-chinito-guy with a smile that can melt even the heart of a stone. He is timid but with a very deep personality. He is not one of those guys who always laugh at even the none essential stuffs or guys who love to dress differently for deviation purposes. I have to be honest with myself, the hours I spend with him was all but fun, so much fun that I had lost track of time. We have been together from 2pm up to 7pm; we just talked like there’s no tomorrow left for us. In that short period, I have number of laughs I never had for a long time. I must have really enjoyed my time with him. I really do not understand myself but I forgot all my problems and my sinister plot in that single space in time. It is plain and simple—he is a prince I never had!

Sadly and against my will, I had to go back to reality and carry on with my plans. When I opened my phone, my boyfriend went ballistic and went screaming. He was really mad—no, he was angry or the superlative connotation of that! When I went home, he was waiting at our sala and boy, imagine the look on his face—it was really scary. With lesser anticipation as compare with before, I dropped the bomb—I told him that while he was having a manhunt for me, I was out with another man on a date. With that look on his face as he sat back on his chair, I sensed my victory and celebrated his defeat but inside I do not want to continue further. I am not used to hurting people; I cannot go on with that so I broke with him.

Back with my chatmate, I felt so guilty of what I did to him and to our new-found-friendship. To add up to my weight—he asked me out but this time he seemed very interested. He knew I had a boyfriend that time but I guess both of us had that feeling of mutual friendship. I hesitated at first but there is no reason I should not go out with him. Time went on with series of friendship dates that turned to getting-to-know-each-other type of dating. He even introduced me to his friends. I admit I really enjoyed his company and much to my enjoyment, I was thinking over our situation and envisioning what it would be like if he was my boyfriend and all that stuff.

Crazy me to think about all those stuffs when I just broke with my ex-boyfriend. Slap me on my face to send me to reality but that was it. There is no reason I cannot love this person—he is everything I can wish for. To describe this guy, he is a wolf with his pack or whenever he around with his friend but when he is all alone, he is a puppy yearning for love and belongingness. Though he is fierce in DOTA battles or whatever his games are, he has this simple heart of a child.

There is this subtle part inside him I am afraid to touch, afraid that I will just taint it with the evilness I had. He is a portrait of a goodness I never had, a path I am afraid to course, and a dream I am afraid to follow.

Some people may think I cannot love this guy because I do not have a heart to give. I apologize for disappointing them but I am afraid I already did. I am afraid I do love this prince. Yes it is in your part if you want to believe or not, but a bitch like me can also feel how it is to be afraid. I am afraid that one day someday, I will just wake up in this delicate reality that no one—even this prince—can love a heartless bitch that I am.

Worlds Youngest Billionaire

Pin It now!

Sure, a bunch of them were lucky enough to inherit their wealth. China's richest woman, Yang Huiyan, owes her $7.4 billion fortune to her generous father, Yeung Kwok Keung, the media-shy chief of real estate outfit Country Garden, who transferred all his shares to her in 2005, the same year she graduated from Ohio State University.

So too Hind Hariri, 24, the daughter of the late Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Al-Hariri. A recent graduate of the Lebanese American University in Beirut, Hariri is a fashionista who frequents Paris shows and reportedly favors designer Chanel.

But many actually made their own fortunes. The Ukraine's youngest billionaire, Kostyantin Zhevago, was only 19 when he started out as a finance director at a bank. He later gained a majority stake in its holding company. Today the 34-year-old is worth $3.4 billion and is a deputy in Ukraine's parliament.

Then there is the Chinese billionaire nicknamed Light: Xiaofeng Peng, 33, who got into solar energy in 2005 and took his company, LDK Solar (nyse: LDK - news - people ), which makes silicon wafers used in solar panels, public on NYSE Euronext (nyse: NYX - news - people ) two years later.

American John Arnold whizzed through Vanderbilt University in three years. He became an oil trader for Enron, supposedly earning the company $750 million in 2001. After the business collapsed, he started his own hedge fund, Centaurus Energy. He has done well enough to debut on Forbes' World's Billionaires list with a net worth of $1.5 billion.

The richest and most celebrated of this overachieving lot are Google (nasdaq: GOOG - news - people ) co-founders Sergey Brin and Larry Page. The pair, who are both sons of professors, met at Stanford University while pursuing Ph.D.'s in computer science and dropped out together when they were just 25 to start Google. They debuted as billionaires at ages 30 and 31. Today they are worth $18.7 billion and $18.6 billion apiece.

Still, one hopes all these hardworking billionaires take the time to enjoy their fortunes while they are young. After all, how many people in this world are lucky enough to become so fabulously wealthy before crow's feet and cellulite settle in? Larry Page seemed to take that to heart when he asked British billionaire Richard Branson, an old geezer at 57, to let him borrow Branson's private Necker Island for his wedding festivities last year; the 600-person guest list was said to include Bono and the Clintons. Earlier last year, Brin got hitched on a sandbar in the Bahamas; rumor has it that the bachelor party involved kite surfing on the coast of Greenland.

The young billionaire brat pack could learn a thing or two from dashing 24-year-old German Prince Albert von Thurn und Taxis, who is truly living a near fairy-tale existence. A billionaire since he inherited a fortune at age 18, he lives in a castle, owns 75,000 acres of woodland and spends his spare time driving race cars. Not a bad life at any age, but particularly enviable for someone who hasn't even lived a quarter of a century.

The Bible

Pin It now!
I got that fact in a website wherein i searched in yahoo. Honestly, these people got nerve. The Bible is supposed to be the book that will make you more in contact with God and his virtues and all that sort of stuff. I was quite surprised t first but when i realized that the Bible is in the market for so long, I realized it really wasn't that great.

Anyway, I attended a seminar about contraceptives that was announced in the church. I was really surprised since the church is against it and you get the picture. So I attended with a bunc of people but for us, it was mostly because of educational purposes and find out why the church had approved on these pregnancy preventive methods.

I was so damn surprised! They were talking about things that the devil works in. They say that the subtle way the devil works is through everything around us. The speaker also said that "The Devil Wears Prada" move was the work of the devil and that the commercial of Ann Curtis I think, about a specific alcoholic drink was also the work of the devil. And that the lightning is also the devil because of a passage of the Bible that said "And the devil went down from heaven like a lightning". For heaven's sake! Are these people like in shock? Panic? or mentally ill? The passage said, "LIKE a lightning" and not "a lightning". Has this person like, went though an English subject or not? There is a very big difference between the two phrases. The like a lightning pertains to the manner in which the devil traveled, you know, the speed. And so, not surprisingly, he also concluded that Harry Potter is the work of the devil and that we are all falling for it. Go figure...

It's like, everything this person sees and hear is the devil's work. Like also contraceptives because it alters the body structures and that it is bad because we're not grateful to out creator because we make changes in out body. So i asked, "drinking medicines, going under surgery, wearing clothes, using earrings and a lot of more things alters the body structure therefore, is it also bad?" He said, "NO". So, what's the difference? And so i asked.

"But if contraceptives are not used, many, especially the poor will have a lot of children and they cant really afford to take care of all these children. I had a client in the community before that only earns about 100 pesos a day and she has about 10 children. If not for contraception, this mother will have more that two dozen children"

so he answered, "Well, sex isn’t supposed to be used or done as a sort of leisure or if you are bored."

So I said to myself, (the speaker was a doctor then took up nursing; i took up nursing and now a nurse), "Did this doctor really went through the course or did he fast tracked it? i guess YES!" No wonder he didnt know this most simplest basic fact.

Is the use of contraceptive methods bad to you or not? Everything else is bad except for these 3 methods except for the billing's method (checking of vaginal discharge), basal body temperature, or total abstinence or no sex.

God Helps Those Who Help Themselves.

Pin It now!
Sometimes when I surrender, things do show up. Sometimes nothing happens until I act. And sometimes I do the wrong things, too, and it still doesn’t show up.

For the first, in what seemed like a very long time, I slept very deeply and woke up completely refreshed.

I know that these are small and perhaps trivial examples, but they do point to a much larger theme. God helps those who help themselves.

Basically, you have to act in this world to get things done. Rarely do things just show up by themselves. This does happen, but not at a statistically significant level to count on it. However, after you act, you have to let it go. You can’t predict the outcome, and you definitely can’t control it. Thus, I have come to the conclusion that our best recourse is to do what we can and then let go the results. Basically, we act and then we surrender.

Here is a small fable to illustrate my point:

In a time long ago, there was a clever merchant who bought some camels from a distant town and had to transport them to his home through the desert. On his first night in the desert with his new herd of camels, he did not know whether to take the time to tie them all up before he went to sleep that night in his tent. Should he just trust God and hope that he would be able to see them still flocked around in the morning? Should he make the effort of spending several hours tying up each camel to a stake in the ground?

Mysteriously, a monk showed up. He was passing through and asked the merchant for some food and shelter.

After dining the monk, the merchant asked him what to do about his camels.

"Tie up the camels," said the sage, "and trust God to keep them there until morning."

And here is a true story that illustrates it:

I once worked with an MLM person. I joined his team when he was making direct sales and doing $10,000 a month. He was a wizard at the cold call. He could charm the fleas off a dog with his words. He was also highly religious. What he did was make the effort and surrender the result. Avalanches of abundance flowed to him.

Then he became enamored with the surrender texts in his Bible and shirked the doing part. Within four months, everything that he had built up collapsed.

In conclusion, God is the ultimate mystery. Sometimes our life lessons are to be proactive and change the world. Sometimes it is to be passive and let the invisible powers make all the necessary contacts and experiences. As human beings, we seldom recognize the lesson until later on. From our limited perspective, we don’t know what things mean and what to do. Thus, I think action and surrender is the best way to play the game of life.

True faith involves trusting God and helping ourselves. There are some things that only God can do for us. Acceptance of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ is necessary for forgiveness of sin. Only God can give us eternal life

Life is a process of karma

Pin It now!
Life is a process of karma as well as a means to work out the result of the past karma. The karma theory, as believed by the Hindus, can be understood in its rudiments through your statement, 'As u sow, so u reap'. However, in practice, it could be complex process, wherein the karmas of several persons are intertwined and entangled which defies a simple definition. All the human beings have to work out their karmas and until that is completed, he will be born again and again. More accretion of fresh karmas will further delay his salvation. Repentance and other forms of ethical living will indeed aid in cleansing of your karma or sin. Repentance is the first step towards washing of your karma.

Philippines In Shortage, Not Just in Rice but with IT Experts

Pin It now!
The country could face a major shortage of information technology (IT)-skilled workers, according to research company XMG.

In its recent report, Canada-based XMG said while there is a steady increase of IT workers in the country, the skill set of these workers might no longer fit the requirements of various technology companies.

The research firm said the average growth of the country’s IT labor grew at a rate of 10 percent in the last 10 years, and is projected to grow at a rate of 3 percent in the next 5 years.

XMG further said there is an insufficient skilled labor pool to sustain the total IT growth in the Philippines which is projected to grow by 30 percent to 35 percent year-on-year through 2010.

XMG said educational institutions and learning centers need to implement "ladderized degree programs" to boost the dwindling talent supply due to the growth of the Philippine offshoring industry and "the migration of IT skilled workforce to countries such as the US, Singapore, Canada, the Middle East and Europe," XMG statistician Benedict Dormitorio said.

According to XMG, the study identified the skills shortage in Python, VBScript, Perl, XML and programmers in the Philippines due to low incident count coming from the general IT population. For programming and business solutions, IT skills on SAS, SAP, Lotus Notes and MySQL will be increasingly difficult to source and companies must be prepared to pay a premium price to recruit these individuals, the study said.

The study further emphasized networking skills particularly those in network administration.

In terms of labor supply, majority of fresh talents will be sourced from Metro Manila making up 22 percent of the estimated 50,000 to 60,000 graduates each year, XMG said.

End of time? End of the world? 2012?

Pin It now!
There are lots of questions that cross our minds evryday. Some are worth of our time but some are not. But if we talk about end of the world? Extinction of life? and end of human race...

According to The Maya

A great deal has been written about the end times and December 21, 2012, the date the Mayan sacred calendar inexplicably comes to an abrupt end. And there is good reason for doing so.

The advanced Mayan civilization that we know of seems to have appeared out of the mist some 3,500 years ago in the jungles of Mexico. Interestingly, it was an elaborately developed culture right from the start. Edgar Cayce said their ancestry came from Atlantis. This civilization went into rapid decline approximately 800 years ago.

Nevertheless, the Mayan artifacts tell us in no uncertain terms that they were master astronomers with an intimate knowledge of the heavens. And they were obsessed with recording cycles of cosmic time.

The Maya described five different ages that existed in the distant past, each lasting some 5,125 years. They have also told us that all of those ages ended with some form of physical cataclysm, which was needed to cleanse our planet of mankind's negative karma. Then, with the start of each new era, our conscious evolution would begin again from the seeds of the survivors left behind.

According to the Maya, the fifth and final age began approximately 5,125 years ago. One has to wonder why their calendar, constructed more than two thousand years ago, mysteriously ended with the fifth age at "zero point," on the winter solstice of 2012. Is there no next age?

According to the Tibetan Wheel of Time

Equally compelling is that almost one thousand years ago, in another part of the world far from Maya, an Indian Yogi named Somanatha brought the Wheel of Time (Kalakachakra) to Tibet. Soon thereafter, the first lama, Karmapa, added refinements to the Wheel's date.

The Whel of Time contains a profound prophecy. It tells us that 960 years after its introduction in Tiber 1027 A.D., the end of time would come 25 years thereafter. Adding 960 to 1027 brings us year 1987. The Wheel of Time contains a profound prophecy. It tells us that 960 years after its introduction in Tibet in 1027 A.D., the end of time would come 25 years thereafter. Adding 960 to 1027 brings us to the year 1987. Add the remaining 25 years to this date and one arrives at 2012, the end of the Mayan calendar!

According to The Hopi

It doesn't stop there. The Hopi, whose name means "people of peace," have sacred traditions that go back thousands of years. Their time-honored teachings point to certain prophecies that would manifest just before a great purification takes place on planet Earth.

The purification would be a time when the world would shudder and tremble causing much destruction, in order to cleanse the planet of the karmic negativity we have created while serving as its caretakers. Not too long ago, the Hopis said that those prophecies have now completed. It appears that the time for purification is upon us, as we approach 2012.

According to The Peruvian Shamans

The Hopi's friends, the Peruvian shamans, have recently come forward to tell us that sometime between the years 2002 to 2012 the world will be shaken and transformed in ways that will be difficult to comprehend. It will be a time in which our reality will be turned inside out, upside down and completely restructured.

These same shamans also say that something very profound will occur this time around, with a possible break occurring between spiritually awakened individuals and those who are not.

End Time Prophecies

Similar end time prophecies can be found in many Eastern and Western religious teachings, in various channeled messages given to individuals by other worldly sources, as well as in the lore of different native cultures and esoteric texts.

Many of these prophecies describe the return of Christ for the final judgment. Some point to financial collapse or even WWIII that will usher in the end of days. Others speak of a massive shift in human awareness, in which our old ways of thinking will end, as we birth the emerging Age of Aquarius with a new collective consciousness.
Fingerprints of the Gods

In his best selling book, Fingerprints of the Gods, Graham Hancock conducted an exhaustive investigation into mankind's remote past. This effort took him all over the world from the Great Sphinx, to the Hopis, to the Andean ruins and to the monuments of many ancient civilizations, including the Maya.

Hancock believes that within the records and monuments of these ancient civilizations there is an important message for us. He concludes that in our distant past there were others who were very advanced technologically, but not spiritually, such as the Atlanteans. This imbalance led to their demise.

The "fingerprints" of information that our ancestors left for us to discover and contemplate warn of terrible Earth changes that periodically afflict our planetary home. And the end of another cycle appears to be upon us.

A lot of stories and prophecies relates to 2012 The End of Time. "Doomsday", Cycles of Time, The Wobble of Planet Earth, The Mysteries of the Great Cross of Hendaye. God bless us all.

39 Ways to Live and Not Merely Exist

Pin It now!
Don't wait to reach the old age and look back your past with regrets. Don't see your kids off to college and realize that you missed their childhoods. Live your life truly! Break free from the mold and drink from life.

Here's the list of ideas you have could have thought of yourself and a useful reminder. Today!

1. Love. Perhaps the most important. Fall in love, if you aren't already. If you have, fall in love with your partner all over again. Abandon caution and let your heart be broken. Or love family members, friends, anyone -- it doesn't have to be romantic love. Love all of humanity, one person at a time.

2. Get outside. Don't let yourself be shut indoors. Go out when it's raining. Walk on the beach. Hike through the woods. Swim in a freezing lake. Bask in the sun. Play sports, or walk barefoot through grass. Pay close attention to nature.

3. Savor food. Don't just eat your food, but really enjoy it. Feel the texture, the bursts of flavors. Savor every bite. If you limit your intake of sweets, it will make the small treats you give yourself (berries or dark chocolate are my favorites) even more enjoyable. And when you do have them, really, really savor them. Slowly.

4. Create a morning ritual. Wake early and greet the day. Watch the sun rise. Out loud, tell yourself that you will not waste this day, which is a gift. You will be compassionate to your fellow human beings, and live every moment to its fullest. Stretch or meditate or exercise as part of your ritual. Enjoy some coffee.

5. Take chances. We often live our lives too cautiously, worried about what might go wrong. Be bold, risk it all. Quit your job and go to business for yourself (plan it out first!), or go up to that girl you've liked for a long time and ask her out. What do you have to lose?

6. Follow excitement. Try to find the things in life that excite you, and then go after them. Make life one exciting adventure after another (with perhaps some quiet times in between).

7. Find your passion. Similar to the above tip, this one asks you to find your calling. Make your living by doing the thing you love to do. First, think about what you really love to do. There may be many things. Find out how you can make a living doing it. It may be difficult, but you only live once.

8. Get out of your cubicle. Do you sit all day in front of computer, shuffling papers and taking phone calls and chatting on the Internet? Don't waste your days like this. Break free from the cubicle environment, and do your work on a laptop, in a coffee shop, or on a boat, or in a log cabin. This may require a change of jobs, or becoming a freelancer. It's worth it.

9. Turn off the TV. How many hours will we waste away in front of the boob tube? How many hours do we have to live? Do the math, then unplug the TV. Only plug it back in when you have a DVD of a movie you love. Otherwise, keep it off and find other stuff to do. Don't know what to do? Read further.

10. Pull away from Internet. You're reading something on the Internet right now. And, with the exception of this article, it is just more wasting away of your precious time. You cannot get these minutes back. Unplug the Internet, then get out of your office or house. Right now! And go and do something.

11. Travel. Sure, you want to travel some day. When you have vacation time, or when you're older. Well, what are you waiting for? Find a way to take a trip, if not this month, then sometime soon. You may need to sell your car or stop your cable bill and stop eating out to do it, but make it happen. You are too young to not see the world. If need be, find a way to make a living by freelancing, then work while you travel. Only work an hour or two a day. Don't check email but once a week. Then use the rest of the time to see the world.

12. Rediscover what's important. Take an hour and make a list of everything that's important to you. Add to it everything that you want to do in life. Now cut that list down to 4-5 things. Just the most important things in your life. This is your core list. This is what matters. Focus your life on these things. Make time for them.

13. Eliminate everything else. What's going on in your life that's not on that short list? All that stuff is wasting your time, pulling your attention from what's important. As much as possible, simplify your life by eliminating the stuff that's not on your short list, or minimizing it.

14. Exercise. Get off the couch and go for a walk. Eventually try running. Or do some push ups and crunches. Or swim or bike or row. Or go for a hike. Whatever you do, get active, and you'll love it. And life will be more alive.

15. Be positive. Learn to recognize the negative thoughts you have. These are the self-doubts, the criticisms of others, the complaints, the reasons you can't do something. Then stop yourself when you have these thoughts, and replace them with positive thoughts. Solutions. You can do this!

16. Open your heart. Is your heart a closed bundle of scar tissue? Learn to open it, have it ready to receive love, to give love unconditionally. If you have a problem with this, talk to someone about it. And practice makes perfect.

17. Kiss in the rain. Seize the moment and be romantic. Raining outside? Grab your lover and give her a passionate kiss. Driving home? Stop the car and pick some wildflowers. Send her a love note. Dress sexy for him.

18. Face your fears. What are you most afraid of? What is holding you back? Whatever it is, recognize it, and face it. Do what you are most afraid of. Afraid of heights? Go to the tallest building, and look down over the edge. Only by facing our fears can we be free of them.

19. When you suffer, suffer. Life isn't all about fun and games. Suffering is an inevitable part of life. We lose our jobs. We lose our lovers. We lose our pets. We get physically injured or sick. A loved one becomes sick. A parent dies. Learn to feel the pain intensely, and really grieve. This is a part of life -- really feel the pain. And when you're done, move on, and find joy.

20. Slow down. Life moves along at such a rapid pace these days. It's not healthy, and it's not conducive to living. Practice doing everything slowly -- everything, from eating to walking to driving to working to reading. Enjoy what you do. Learn to move at a snail's pace.

21. Touch humanity. Get out of your house and manicured neighborhoods, and find those who live in worse conditions. Meet them, talk to them, understand them. Live among them. Be one of them. Give up your materialistic lifestyle.

22. Volunteer. Help at homeless soup kitchens. Learn compassion, and learn to help ease the suffering of others. Help the sick, those with disabilities, those who are dying.

23. Play with children. Children, more than anyone else, know how to live. They experience everything in the moment, fully. When they get hurt, they really cry. When they play, they really have fun. Learn from them, instead of thinking you know so much more than them. Play with them, and learn to be joyful like them.

24. Talk to old people. There is no one wiser, more experienced, more learned, than those who have lived through life. They can tell you amazing stories. Give you advice on making a marriage last or staying out of debt. Tell you about their regrets, so you can learn from them and avoid the same mistakes. They are the wisdom of our society -- take advantage of their existence while they're still around.

25. Learn new skills. Constantly improve yourself instead of standing still -- not because you're so imperfect now, but because it is gratifying and satisfying. You should accept yourself as you are, and learn to love who you are, but still try to improve -- if only because the process of improvement is life itself.

26. Find spirituality. For some, this means finding God or Jesus or Allah or Buddha. For others, this means becoming in tune with the spirits of our ancestors, or with nature. For still others, this just means an inner energy. Whatever spirituality means for you, rediscover it, and its power.

27. Take mini-retirements. Don't leave the joy of retirement until you are too old to enjoy it. Do it now, while you're young. It makes working that much more worth it. Find ways to take a year off every few years. Save up, sell your home, your possessions, and travel. Live simply, but live, without having to work. Enjoy life, then go back to work and save up enough money to do it again in a couple of years.

28. Do nothing. Despite the tip above that we should find excitement, there is value in doing nothing as well. Not doing nothing as in reading, or taking a nap, or watching TV, or meditating. Doing nothing as in sitting there, doing nothing. Just learning to be still, in silence, to hear our inner voice, to be in tune with life. Do this daily if possible.

29. Stop playing video games. They might be fun, but they can take up way too much time. If you spend a lot of time playing online games, or computer solitaire, or Wii or Gameboy or whatever, consider going a week without it. Then find something else to do, outside.

30. Watch sunsets, daily. One of the most beautiful times of day. Make it a daily ritual to find a good spot to watch the sunset, perhaps having a light dinner while you do so.

31. Stop reading magazines. They're basically crap. And they waste your time and money. Cancel your subscriptions and walk past them at the news stands. If you have to read something, read a trashy novel or even better, read Dumb Little Man once a day and be done.

32. Break out from ruts. Do you do things the same way every day? Change it up. Try something new. Take a different route to work. Start your day out differently. Approach work from a new angle. Look at things from new perspectives.

33. Stop watching the news. It's depressing and useless. If you're a news junky, this may be difficult. I haven't watch TV news or read a newspaper regularly in about two years. It hasn't hurt me a bit. Anything important, my mom tells me about.

34. Laugh till you cry. Laughing is one of the best ways to live. Tell jokes and laugh your head off. Watch an awesome comedy. Learn to laugh at anything. Roll on the ground laughing. You'll love it.

35. Lose control. Not only control over yourself, but control over others. It's a bad habit to try to control others -- it will only lead to stress and unhappiness for yourself and those you try to control. Let others live, and live for yourself. And lose control of yourself now and then too.

36. Cry. Men, especially, tend to hold in our tears, but crying is an amazing release. Cry at sad movies. Cry at a funeral. Cry when you are hurt, or when somebody you love is hurt. It releases these emotions and allows us to cleanse ourselves.

37. Make an awesome dessert. I like to make warm, soft chocolate cake. But even berries dipped in chocolate, or crepes with ice cream and fruit, or fresh apple pie, or homemade chocolate chip cookies or brownies, are great. This isn't an every day thing, but an occasional treat thing. But it's wonderful.

38. Try something new, every week. Ask yourself: "What new thing shall I try this week?" Then be sure to do it. You don't have to learn a new language in one week, but seek new experiences. Give it a try. You might decide you want to keep it in your life.

39. Be in the moment. Instead of thinking about things you need to do, or things that have happened to you, or worrying or planning or regretting, think about what you are doing, right now. What is around you? What smells and sounds and sights and feelings are you experiencing? Learn to do this as much as possible through meditation, but also through bringing your focus back to the present as much as you can in everything you do.
